A DUBLIN man charged in connection with an incident last November when a woman was allegedly mugged by him and thrown into the Grand Canal, was sent forward for trial to the Circuit Criminal Court yesterday.

Mr Patrick Weafer (20), Derry Road, Crumlin, appeared at the Dublin District Court charged with the robbery of £1 and a bicycle from the woman at Parnell Road, Crumlin, last November 7th.

The court was told on a previous occasion by Det Garda Eamonn Moloney that it was alleged by the prosecution that Mr Weafer was dissatisfied with the £1 she had on her and took her bike, pushing her into the canal.

Judge Desmond Hogan was told Mr Weafer had waived his right to a book of evidence and wished to go forward for trial. He was sent forward in custody with consent to bail to the present circuit court sittings.
