EDINBURGH - The medieval casket thought to contain the embalmed heart of Scotland's King Robert the Bruce - who died in 1329, probably of leprosy - was finally revealed yesterday. It had taken nearly three hours of hard work by archaeological conservators to open the outer lead container that was found last week during excavation work by Historic Scotland at Melrose Abbey in the Scottish Borders.

There are no plans to open the medieval casket.
