A man who lost his High Court challenge to the Residential Institutions Redress Board’s refusal to accept his late application for compensation for alleged abuse yesterday began his appeal to the Supreme Court.

Lawyers for the board told the court yesterday it was not applying for its costs .

The High Court had ruled the board was entitled to refuse to accept the man’s late application for redress and that he had failed to make out exceptional circumstances.
