Parents at Colaiste de hide, an all-Irish second-level school in Tallaght, Dublin, will withdraw their children from classes today in protest at the Department of Education's failure to include the school in this year's school building programme. Only two classes of Junior Certificate students will attend school.

The 150-student school, housed in prefabs since its foundation in 1992, has a site in Tymon Park which was sanctioned by the Minister for Education three years ago, said the chairwoman of the parents, association, Ms Carmel McGowan.

Parents and students will picket the school and the Dail this morning.
