Washington - Sensitivity to alcohol has a genetic origin and can be modified, according to researchers who conducted a study on fruit flies. Flies with a particular gene removed became drunk more quickly than others.

Researchers, who reported their findings in Cell magazine, are now looking for a similar response in higher organisms.
