TIRANA - Albania's right-wing government showed no sign of yielding yesterday despite violent protests in the capital over the collapse of popular investment schemes which left thousands of people penniless.

The Prime Minister, Mr Aleksander Meksi, said he was ready to resign over the crisis if his ruling Democratic Party asked him to, but quickly added he had the party's full support.
