Irish energy group Airtricity opened a 124-megawatt wind farm in West Texas today.

Irish energy group Airtricity opened a 124-megawatt wind farm in West Texas today.

The company today said the plant will generate enough electricity to power more than 35,000 homes.

Last month, Airtricity began construction of the 209-megawatt Roscoe Wind Farm, also in Texas, which will span nearly 30,000 acres when completed.

Airtricity is also involved in a range of offshore wind projects across Europe and has a presence in the North Sea, Germany and the United Kingdom.
