Airport rail plan welcomed

The proposal for a rail link to Dublin Airport has been welcomed by union representatives and local politicians

The proposal for a rail link to Dublin Airport has been welcomed by union representatives and local politicians. The SIPTU regional officer, Mr Brendan Hayes, said he commended the "enthusiastic response" from the Minister for Enterprise, Mrs O'Rourke, to the link proposed by CIE and Aer Rianta. He said the development would "allow the airport to expand in an orderly fashion and not become a carparking sprawl".

Labour's Senator Sean Ryan said Dublin Airport "urgently requires a high-standard rail link to the city".
