Industrial action has been deferred at Shannon Airport following a SIPTU general meeting of the airport's 90 clerical staff yesterday, at which union officers recommended that members accept proposals put forward by Aer Rianta management.

The move follows industrial unrest between union and airport management over the filling of permanent vacancies in the clerical section of Aer Rianta.

Industrial action has been averted until a ballot on whether to accept or reject management proposals is completed. Balloting will begin next Wednesday and take between eight and 10 days to complete.
