Aircraft makes emergency landing

An Air Corps aircraft was forced to make an emergency landing today after smoke was discovered in its cabin.

An Air Corps aircraft was forced to make an emergency landing today after smoke was discovered in its cabin.

The CASA aircraft, which had been on maritime patrol off the south-west coast, was diverted to Kerry Airport at about 10.55am.

A specialist team was deployed from Baldonnel in Dublin to carry out a technical examination of the aircraft, which landed without incident.

A Defence Forces spokesman said all six crew were safe and well.
