Consultants are overcharging farmers for drawing up plans for the Rural Environment Protection Scheme, the deputy-president of the IFA claims.
Mr Michael Slattery said that for some farmers, planning charges for REPS have become a major drain on the financial benefits from the scheme which pays up to £5,000 each year for farming in an environmentally sensitive way.
