New York - The UN said yesterday that Afghanistan's ruling Taliban militia and its opponents were building up their forces and that war may flare up within weeks.
A UN official for Afghanistan, Mr Francesc Vendrell, said the Taliban saw the chance of "a final military victory" while the Northern Alliance "might wish to improve its military position and strengthen its negotiating position later on".
