The result of the Aer Lingus cabin crews vote for strike action over the airline's refusal to change the Manhattan hotel used by staff on the Shannon New York route will be known today.

The crews say they can get better and safer accommodation at an extra cost of only $10 a night, but the company says it is satisfied with the standard of service and security at the present hotel on Central Park West.
