Talks between Aer Lingus management and Siptu are being held at the Labour Relations Commission (LRC) this afternoon in their dispute over cleaning staff.

An airline spokeswoman last night said it is committed to full engagement with staff and their representatives.

She said the company had been "working through the process" at the LRC for a number of months and would continue that work this morning in the same committed manner.

Her comments follow accusations from Siptu's national industrial secretary, Mr Michael Halpenny, that aircraft cleaning staff were being denied the right to due process at the LRC.

Aer Lingus said last week cleaning services would be carried out by an external contractor from the beginning of next month. Industrial action would follow if the airline did not change this position, Mr Halpenny said.
