The first Community Addiction Studies Training Centre was formally opened yesterday by the Minister for Education, Ms Breathnach. URRUS, based in Santry, north Dublin, has been established to provide a range of training options for professionals and community representatives who are attempting to deal with drug problems.

The centre, which is an initiative of the Ballymun Youth Action Project, has developed training schemes on drug abuse, addiction and community responses. Ms Breathnach said her Department's own preventive scheme, "On My Own Two Feet", was being extended to primary schools.
