A man who took part in the theft of £450 from a nun in a city church was remanded for a probation report when he appeared before the Dublin District Court yesterday.

David Emmet (21), of Belcamp Avenue, Dublin, pleaded guilty to stealing the money at Priorswood Church on August 5th last.

Det Garda Jim Phelan, of Coolock Garda station, said Emmet's accomplice went into the church and stole the money from the nun. The court heard Emmet was a drug addict who is now seeking treatment.

Judge Peter Smithwick remanded him to October 24th next for a probation report and said if he paid compensation to the nun in that time, he may consider not jailing him.
