The actor Barry Cassin (above) has won the RTE Francis MacManus short story competition with an entry called Ghost, it was announced yesterday.

Mr Cassin, from Balbriggan, Co Dublin, is an actor, theatre producer, broadcaster and former member of the RTE Players.

He has appeared in many films and television dramas and is currently starring in Tarry Flynn at the Abbey Theatre.
