Achill man killed by lightning

A MAN died after being struck by lightning while harvesting oysters on Blacksod Bay, off Achill Island, Co Mayo, yesterday

A MAN died after being struck by lightning while harvesting oysters on Blacksod Bay, off Achill Island, Co Mayo, yesterday. He was named last night as Mr Andrew Forry (23), a single man, from Dooega, Achill. He worked with a local oyster firm, Crusa Teo.

A co owner of the firm, Mr Danny McNulty, and Mr Michael Johnson were admitted to the Mayo General Hospital. Both were said not to be in any danger last night.

The tragedy happened about 1.30 p.m. during a sudden and vicious thunderstorm.
