GARDA ASSAULT TRIAL:A bus driver has gone on trial accused of repeatedly kicking a garda and knocking him unconscious during a traffic stop.

Patrick Fitzpatrick (53) of Drumree, Dunshaughlin, Co Meath, pleaded not guilty to assaulting a peace officer at Blackhall Place in Dublin on July 7th, 2007.

Sgt Neil Crowley told Dublin Circuit Criminal Court the accused was “like a man possessed”.

The trial continues.
