Old people living in sheltered accommodation will picket today's meeting of Dublin City Council to demand improved services

Old people living in sheltered accommodation will picket today's meeting of Dublin City Council to demand improved services. The secretary of St Helena's Senior Citizens' Voluntary Committee in Finglas, Mr Billy Keegan, said the warden, caretaking and other services provided should be restored to pre-1990 levels.

In the past year, two pensioners have died in sheltered accommodation but have not been found for some time. Dublin Corporation has said its policy is to replace resident wardens with community wardens.
