NEW DELHI - As many as 7,400 crimes, including murders, occurred in Indian trains during 1996, the state run railways said yesterday, claiming the figures were an improvement on the previous year.
At least 50 people were killed on trains last year, while almost 500 armed holdups occurred during the whole of last year.
