Armed robbers took £7,000 in a raid on the Bank of Ireland in Charlestown, Co Mayo, yesterday. A Garda spokesman said three masked men entered the bank at 12.15 am. and threatened staff with handguns. The raiders fled after failing to open the bank's safe but took money from the cash tills.
