A north Cork retired farmer became the National Lottery's 156th millionaire when he arrived at the Lotto head office to collect his cheque for £1 million yesterday. The ticket was bought in the Artane Service Station in Fermoy for last Saturday's draw.

The man, in his sixties and married, wishes to remain anonymous On hearing the news, he said: "It still hasn't hit me yet - I'm a bit numb. I enjoy my life as it is, but I'm sure this win will make my retirement and our family life that bit easier."
