THE Department of the Marine is to seek a report on the circumstances surrounding a fire on board a fishing vessel off the south-east coast yesterday, writes Lorna Siggins, Marine Correspondent. Five crewmen were rescued.

The fire broke out in the engine room of the 19-metre vessel, Derisa, about two miles off Hook Head, Co Waterford. The Naval Service patrol ship, LE Orla, extinguished the fire. Assistance was provided by the Dunmore East lifeboat.
