MANILA - At least 48 people died and 14 are missing after a ferry sank off Cadiz city on Negros island in the Philippines, the coastguard said last night.
One hundred and twenty people were rescued from the 75 tonne Gretchen, which was waiting for high tide in order to enter the harbour when it was hit by huge waves.
