Five gardai referred some 372 cases involving tourist victims of crime last year to the Tourist Victim Support Service in Harcourt Square, Dublin, the service said yesterday. About 443 tourists were offered emotional support and practical help in dealing with the aftermath of crime, the service added.

Typical crimes were pick pocketing, larceny from cars, mugging and burglary - similar to crimes against the community in general.
