Gardaí in Limerick are still questioning a man who was arrested while carrying an estimated £200,000 worth of cannabis resin this morning.

The man, who is 40 years old, was arrested in St Mary's Park in the city just after 10 a.m. while carrying 20 kilos of the drug.

He is being held in Henry Street Garda Station under Section 2 of the Drug Trafficking Act.

A follow-up search led to a further seizure of 24 kilos of cannabis resin, which would have a street value of £240,000, and five kilos of what a garda spokesman described as 'white powder'.
