Some 44,000 homes in Northern Ireland are unfit for habitation, according to a House Condition Survey published yesterday. The figure is an improvement on previous levels of unfitness according to the House Condition Survey. The problems remain worst in rural areas, with 17.5 per cent of homes in Co Fermanagh regarded as unfit.
