Bujumbura - At least 35 civilians were killed at the weekend during a military operation by Burundi's army against rebels outside the capital, witnesses and a local official said yesterday. The victims were killed on Saturday as they were returning to their homes in the Isale commune, east of Bujumbura. Some of the injured said they had been shot by soldiers.
