JAKARTA - The death toll from a powerful earthquake that caused tidal waves in the disputed Indonesian territory of West Papua (Irian Jaya province) rose to 32 with 19 people missing and 50 injured, state run TVRI television reported.

The earthquake measuring 7.5 on the Richter scale hit Biak island and several coastal areas on the northern part off the Indonesian half of New Guinea island on Saturday.
