Thirty cyclists yesterday began a gruelling two-day cycle through the west of Ireland to raise funds for vision charity Optometry Giving Sight.

They will cover more than 300km in their bid to equip testing rooms in an eye clinic in Nampula, Mozambique.

The cyclists are travelling from St John’s Castle in Limerick to Galway, where they are to arrive tomorrow.
