A gang of masked men armed with iron bars and a sledgehammer stole thousands of euro from a petrol station in Navan in Co Meath last night.

Staff at the Statoil station on the Proudstown Road were locking up when a silver car with four men pulled in just after 11 p.m.  Staff were threatened into opening the safe and an estimated €30,000 was stolen.

No one was injured in the raid.
