Three Dublin men were charged with the unlawful possession of explosives at the Special Criminal Court last night and remanded in custody until January 20th.

Mr Eamon Flanaghan, of The Square, Skerries, and Mr Seamus McLoughlin, of Balkill Park, Howth, were charged with having in their possession or under their control an explosive substance at West Pier, Howth, Co Dublin, on January 5th last with intent to endanger life or cause serious injury to property.

Mr Joseph Dillon, of Green Lawn, Skerries, was charged that on January 5th at Golflinks Road, Bettystown, Co Meath, he had in his possession or under his control an explosive substance, also with intent to endanger life or property.

After a 25-minute hearing, Mr Justice Robert Barr remanded the three men in custody until January 20th. A fourth man who had been arrested on Thursday morning did not face charges.
