Thousands of stolen plasma television sets have been seized by gardai investigating organised crime.

Thousands of stolen plasma television sets have been seized by gardai investigating organised crime.

A Garda spokesman said more than 3,000 of the TVs were found after officers stopped and searched a truck in the village of Carragh, near Naas, Co Kildare this morning.

It is believed the truck had been stolen from a distribution centre in Santry and the television were destined for the black market. The equipment is believed to be worth in excess of €3 million

Six men aged between 23 years to 51 years are being held in Naas, Newbridge and Kildare Garda stations under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act. They can be questioned for up to 24 hours before being released or charged.
