Dover - Emergency preparations were being made last night for the arrival in Britain of another 3,000 Czech and Slovak gypsies.

Twenty-six European Romanies came to Dover yesterday as Kent County Council faced its single biggest influx of asylum-seekers. A coachload of eight families arrived in mid-afternoon. Seven people were sent back, and the rest put up in temporary emergency accommodation in Margate. - (PA)
