KIEV - Twenty nine people were killed and about 50 injured yesterday when a tram crashed in the eastern Ukrainian town of Dneprodzerzhinsk, Ukrainian television reported.

The television said the tram was travelling at high speed when its breaks failed on a steep slope in Dneprodzerzhinsk, about 400 km southeast of Kiev.
