A 49 year old labourer, twice injured at work in the same year, has been awarded £27,500 damages in the Circuit Civil Court

A 49 year old labourer, twice injured at work in the same year, has been awarded £27,500 damages in the Circuit Civil Court. Mr James Sweeney, of Herbert Road, Blanchardstown, Dublin, had sued Smurfit Ireland Ltd, trading as Smurfit Print, for £30,000 damages for personal injuries. Mr Sweeney said a cage containing book bindings had toppled over on him twice, in April and again in October 1992. The worst of his injuries was to his right hip.
