Lima - A coach carrying a school group careered off a road and crashed down an embankment in northern Peru killing an estimated 26 people and injuring another 16, hospital sources said yesterday.

The group of teachers and students, most aged 11 and 12, was returning from a spring school trip late on Thursday when the coach left the road and plunged 200 metres downhill on the outskirts of Jaen, they said.
