Ludwigshafen, Germany - In one of Germany's largest peace-time evacuations, some 26,000 inhabitants of the south Rhineland town of Ludwigshafen left their homes yesterday to allow a second World War bomb to be defused. People living within a mile of the 4,000 lb British bomb discovered on Thursday were sent to schools outside the danger zone.
