The Minister for Defence, Mr Michael Smith, has announced the purchase of £25 million worth of additional equipment to complement the 40 new armoured personnel carriers (APCs).

The Minister was addressing Irish soldiers serving with the UN in Lebanon yesterday. The new equipment includes a light infantry tactical vehicle, anti-armour rockets, night vision equipment, engineering equipment and medical field equipment.
