€250,000-worth of cannabis seized

A woman was arrested after cannabis with an estimated value of over €250,000 was seized today at Dublin Airport.

A woman was arrested after cannabis with an estimated value of over €250,000 was seized today at Dublin Airport.

A 33-year-old South African woman was held after Customs officers found 22 Kgs of herbal Cannabis in her luggage. Customs said the drugs had a street value of €264,000

"She had arrived on a flight from Madrid having previously travelled from Johannesburg, South Africa. The drugs were concealed in the woman's suitcase," a Customs spokesman said.

The woman is being questioned by detectives from the Drug Squad at Santry Garda and due to appear in court tomorrow morning.
