A 24-HOUR vigil will be held by the East Timor Ireland Solidarity Campaign in Tralee this weekend while the meeting of, EU foreign ministers is in progress.

The organisers say the protest is intended to draw attention to the continuing illegal occupation and human rights abuses in East Timor. It will also attempt to put pressure on European governments that sell arms, in breach of international law, to the Indonesian dictator, Gen Suharto. Indonesia has occupied East Timor since 1975.
