A new GP clinic offering 24-hour cover for the Gaeltacht in west Kerry opened yesterday in Dingle.
The opening follows division among local doctors over the introduction of the SouthDoc emergency cover scheme to the west Kerry peninsula in September.
Fears that cover would be provided from Killarney, that many of the locums would not be Irish-speaking and that patients would not see their own doctors in emergencies were expressed.
