Gunman hijacked a school bus in Nigeria's Abia state, on the fringes of the oil-producing Niger Delta, and kidnapped 15 youngsters, police said today.
The incident occurred early yesterday while the nursery and primary students were being driven to the Abayi International School in the state's commercial capital, Abia state police spokesman Geoffrey Ogbonna said.
The whereabouts of the children was unknown, but the kidnappers had contacted the school authorities demanding a ransom, he added.
