A horse owner, Mrs Rita O'Toole, of Woodlands Avenue, Dun Laoghaire, has been awarded £15,000 damages for whiplash injuries she received in a car accident in May last year.
She told Judge Kevin Haugh in the Circuit Civil Court she owned four horses but had been unable to ride the since the accident and had suffered pains in her right arm, chest, back and neck as well as headaches.
The judge told Mr John McDonagh, counsel for Mrs O'Toole, that his client was a genuine woman who had not attempted to exaggerate her symptoms.
