THREE Armagh men caught with loaded guns behind premises in Lurgan as £20,000 was being counted inside have been jailed for 14 years at Belfast Crown Court.

The three were convicted last month of having firearms with intent to commit robbery. They are Cormac Conlon (27), Chapel Lane; Michael O'Hara (21), Culdee Terrace; and Robert Davidson (26) of Callanbridge Park. They were arrested as they approached the office door on February 5th last year by RUC officers on surveillance duties at Lurgan Tile Market.

Passing sentence Judge Tom Burgess said: "They were effectively caught red-handed, and the nature of the weapons and their state of readiness provide incontrovertible evidence that lives were in danger. Therefore the court must regard these as serious charges lying at the upper end of the scale."
