A prisoner who shouted insults at the magistrate at Cookstown Court yesterday was jailed for 14 days for contempt. Justin McDonald (19), of Woodbourne Crescent, Dungannon, called the magistrate, Ms Rosemary Watters, a "slut" and a "tramp" when she refused his bail application.

When McDonald later apologised, the magistrate told him his behaviour was inexcusable and could not be tolerated. McDonald was before the court charged with disorderly behaviour, assault on the police and obstructing the police.
