An industrial era in a tiny rural community ended yesterday when the Killyleagh Yarns flax-spinning mill closed its doors for the last time.

One hundred and thirty workers were left jobless as the Co Down village's last major employer implemented the closure announced in May. The linen tradition in the village stretches back to 1851, and provided jobs for successive generations in Killyleagh.
