ANKARA - A total of 117 people, including 90 Kurdish rebels and 27 government troops, have been killed in fighting between security forces and the outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) since Friday, officials said yesterday.
The clashes, in the mountainous north of the province of Diyarbakir and in the nearby Bingol province, were some of bloodiest in the 12 year old campaign by the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) for autonomy or independence in the region.
