More than 100 jobs have been lost at a cable solutions plant in Co Longford.

More than 100 jobs have been lost at a cable solutions plant in Co Longford.

The receiver appointed to B3 Cable Solutions, which manufactures copper based cable for Eircom and other customers, met unions and staff today to confirm the job losses.

Since June 30th, Alan Flanagan of Deloitte, the Receiver of B3 Cable Solutions, has been engaged in an extensive process to sell the business and assets of the company as a going concern.

Mr Flanagan today told staff this had not proved possible, resulting in the forced closure of the plant at Agahfad in Longford.

The company has provided employment at the plant near Longford town for three decades.
